ACO works primarily in the Western, Northern, Eastern Cape Provinces. Our broad skills cover all aspects of Southern African archaeology from the Early Stone Age to the late Colonial period. The team also has a great deal of experience in working on the analysis of early vernacular buildings, industrial and military archaeology, as well as San and Khoekhoen rock paintings and engravings. We now also provide services in respect of maritime and underwater archaeology.

In recent years the team has assisted with the recovery of human remains from archaeological contexts, and have in the past assisted the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to identify graves. ACO Associates senior staff members have more than 30 years of experience undertaking commercially funded archaeological projects and have pursued both locally and internationally funded  archaeological research.
